Who we serve
SafePort was created for veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We also welcome other adults who need stable, affordable housing and are ready to live in a structured, respectful shared home.

Before you apply
Please read. SafePort is a three-story home with a basement. The front door takes about seven or eight outdoor steps (two from the sidewalk, then five to six to the porch). The side door from the driveway leads up six steps to the kitchen or down five steps to the basement. Most bedrooms and the laundry are reached by stairs. The home is not wheelchair accessible. The first-floor suite reduces interior stairs but does not remove the front steps. We provide housing only, not medical or personal care. Residents must be able to live independently and manage steps.

Why SafePort
SafePort Veterans Housing was founded by Peter Proctor, a retired Army veteran, who is converting his own Baltimore home into shared housing for people who need a stable place to rebuild. Housing like this should be run by someone who answers the phone and shows up.
